Hello friends,
Thank you for even opening this email. It means a lot to me that you take a few minutes out of your busy life to read my words.
This week’s note is a little different. No clinical tips or health talk, just something personal.
Next week, my last sweet child heads off to college. E C U Aaaaargh!! That means I’ll officially join the “empty nester” club. People say a lot about this stage, but I’m not sure anyone truly prepares your heart for it.
Of course, this is what’s supposed to happen. We raise them, love them, teach them, encourage them all so they can step confidently into their own life. And he’s ready. Truthfully, I am too. My pride for the young man he’s become far outweighs my selfish wish to keep him close. I know he’ll thrive and bring light wherever he goes… just like he has here in JoCo and in my heart.
Still, the tears are right there, ready to spill at the smallest thing — a song, a look, even a commercial. Sometimes, I don't blink so those tears stay put!
To all the parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles, and friends sending someone out into the world right now: I see you. I feel what you feel. And I believe with all my heart that God’s got them.
In the middle of all this change, I’m reminded of why I do what I do through my work. Whether it’s helping people feel their best, supporting a health journey, or just being a listening ear, my heart is for people and their stories. If you’re in a season of transition too, know that you’re not alone.
